This will be a short one.
Just read Annie Lowrey’s article in NY Times Is it crazy to think we can eradicate poverty? It’s a good read, touching upon some important aspects of poverty measurement and reduction. But it was not the question of $1.25 being a bar set far to low when we talk poverty that triggered my aha! moment, nor was it the statement that more slums can actually be a good thing. It was the argument that the goal of making poverty and hunger obsolete is an achievable one, achievable within our lifetime. An uphill battle as it is, we can actually win it. I think I forgot that. I think I forgot… Hope you haven’t.
